1.1 In order to take part in the Olympiad, a competitor must first register. The registration of participants begins on 15 November of the current year and takes place on the official website of the Olympiad (hereinafter referred to as the "Website"). Participation in the qualifying round of the Olympiad is possible only once a year. Students who have obtained a certain number of points in the qualifying stage may participate in the final - competitive - stage of the Olympiad.

1.2 The variants of the Olympiad tasks of the Qualifying and Competitive Stages are published in a closed mode on the Olympiad website. The student first selects the Olympiad profile, then registers and pays the registration fee. He/she will then receive a password to access his/her virtual cabinet. Each student will go through the qualification phase individually, online, on any day of the month.  In order to receive the Olympiad tasks, the following procedure is foreseen: the participant enters his/her virtual office and presses the "Start" button. The tasks will then be displayed on the computer screen. There are 45 questions in total, 15 from each subject. Each question has four answers, one of which is correct. You have 60 minutes to answer all the questions. After 60 minutes, the programme automatically switches off. The results of your answers are immediately displayed in a special section of the virtual cabinet. However, the programme will automatically calculate the number of points scored at the end of the qualifying stage when all participants have taken part.

1.3 The Olympiad participants will be provided with training materials to prepare for the Olympiad on the Olympiad portal. The preparation is accompanied by online consultations with teachers. The preparation session includes a set of tasks covering all sections of the profile programme for the selected subject block. The number of attempts to pass the preparatory session is not more than 10. The points for the preparatory session will not be taken into account when summarising the results of the qualifying stage.

1.4 The Olympiad organisers will announce the dates and deadlines of the Olympiad stages at least 15 working days before the start of the qualifying stage of the Olympiad and will activate the online registration of students. Any changes to the set dates and deadlines will be made in advance and published on the website in the News section. Participation in the Olympiad is voluntary and paid.

2.1 Registration of participants is obligatory and takes place online at the portal www.isolymp.org.  Registration for participation in the Olympiad is carried out only by the student. When registering, the participant creates his/her own login and password to access the system. The login is the student's e-mail address and the password is created by the student. After registration, an e-mail with general information about the Olympiad will be sent to the e-mail address provided during registration.

2.2 Registered participants have access to the tasks of the training sessions and rounds of the Olympiad's qualifying stage. Registration is always open and will only be interrupted during maintenance of the hardware and software system. If registration does not work normally, the participant can contact the Organising Committee with a description of the problem. It is possible to recover a lost login and password for a competitor. If there are several accounts, differing only by e-mail, only the first account that appeared in the Olympiad system can be restored. The other accounts will be deleted from the system. The organisers of the Olympiad reserve the right to delete unethical accounts, as well as "junk" accounts that differ only by e-mail addresses and/or other intentional distortions of personal data, except for the account that appeared first. Changes to a participant's personal profile data will be made on the basis of the participant contacting the Organising Committee by email at info@isolymp.org. A complete change of the surname and/or first name and/or patronymic in the personal profile of the participant will not be made, unless the participant is willing to provide documents confirming the change of the surname. Changes will only be made to correct spelling or other errors in the surname, first name or patronymic.

3.1 Training session.

The training session will be available to registered participants throughout the duration of the Qualification Round. The aim of the training session is to familiarise participants with the list of standard tasks for the qualifying rounds and the Olympiad system. The tasks of the training sessions are different for students of different grades. A participant can take part in a training session at any time from any computer with Internet access. The results of the training sessions do not count towards the points for the qualification phase. Each participant has the opportunity to take a session up to 10 times. A training session lasts 60 minutes from the moment it is activated by the participant. The participant controls the time until the end of the training session he/she has activated. The Participant will have the opportunity to familiarise him/herself with the correct answers to the questions in the session immediately after the end of the session. Participation in training sessions is not compulsory for participation in the Olympiad. Training session tasks are not subject to appeal.

3.2 Qualifying Round

The qualifying round will take place within 30 (thirty) calendar days according to the published schedule. The duration of the Qualification Round is 60 minutes from the moment of its activation by the Participant. The tasks will be selected from the database by a special computer program called "Random Digit Generator". Each task is scored from one to four points, depending on the frequency of correct answers by all contestants. The maximum number of points (4) is awarded if a minimum number of students answer correctly. The minimum number of points (1) will be awarded if the maximum number of students answer the question correctly.

A participant can take part in the round from any computer with Internet access at any time during 30 days and only once. Once the Qualifying Round has been activated, the tasks will appear on the website with a minimum and maximum score and four possible answers.  After familiarising himself or herself with the task, the contestant selects the answer he or she thinks is correct and clicks the "Confirm" button. The next question is then displayed, so that all 45 questions are displayed in sequence. In order to register his/her results in the system after completing the tour tasks, the Participant must complete the tour correctly using the active elements of the personal page interface. In case of technical failure of the Participant's computer, it is possible to repeat the round after contacting the Organising Committee of the Olympiad and only within the fixed calendar period of the round. The request for replay of the round, including a full description of the technical failure, the competitor's login and password, must be sent to the Organising Committee by e-mail to info@isolymp.org.

The Organising Committee will decide whether the competitor can take part in the Olympiad qualifying round again.  The Organising Committee reserves the right to prolong the qualifying round and will inform the participants in the "News" section. In case of scheduled maintenance of the Olympiad portal that prevents participants from going through training sessions and/or rounds of the qualifying stage, the Organising Committee will inform participants by publishing it in the "News" section. In case of an extraordinary technical failure in the Olympiad system, the participant will be assigned to repeat the round if the technical failure occurred during the participant's round activity. The contestant will repeat the round with a different set of tasks. The calendar terms of the round of the qualifying stage will not be extended on the basis of the contestant's claims about the impossibility to complete the round within the terms set by the calendar plan. The Organising Committee recommends that participants consider the last calendar day of the round as a reserve day.

4.1 The contestant will be informed of the correctness of the answers immediately after the completion of the task. However, the number of points scored will only be known at the end of the Qualification Round. Each item has a minimum and maximum number of points that the Participant will receive if he/she has entered the correct answer to the item: each item is worth between 1 and 4 points. Points are only awarded in full if the student's answer is exactly the same as the correct answer. The number of points for each item depends on how many people answered it correctly. For example, if the majority of students answered question '12' correctly, each student will receive 1 point. And only 2 people answered question '13'. Then each of them gets 4 points. Partial crediting of points is not provided for. Within 2 (two) calendar days after the end of the Qualification and Competition Stages, the Participant has the possibility to submit an appeal from his/her Virtual Cabinet on the Olympiad Portal.

4.2 An appeal can only be submitted for answers to round tasks that have been submitted in an unspecified form. If the answer is not the correct one, the appeal will not be considered. Appeals will be considered no later than 5 (five) working days after the end of the Qualification and Competition Rounds. The results of the first round, in the form of the number of points obtained, shall be published no later than 3 (three) working days after the completion of the consideration of appeals at the end of the Qualification Round.

4.3 In the qualifying stage, a cumulative system will be used to calculate the entrant's points: the entrant's points from the qualifying stage and the competition stage will be added together. If a competitor participates in only one round of the Olympiad, the results of the round in which he/she did not participate will be counted as 0 points. The final results of the qualifying stage in the form of the sum of the points obtained by the participants according to the results of the first and second rounds of the Olympiad shall be published no later than 3 (three) working days after the end of the consideration of appeals according to the results of the second stage of the Olympiad.

5.1 The Final Stage is scheduled to take place in March-April. Participants who have obtained the number of points determined by the Olympiad Jury according to the results of the qualifying stage may take part in the final stage of the Olympiad.

5.2 The final stage of the Olympiad will be held in the period from 21 February to 21 March, separately in each country at the reference sites, in the proctoring mode.   The dates of the final stage are set by the Organising Committee of the Olympiad.

5.3 Pre-registration on the Olympiad portal is mandatory for participation in the final, competitive stage. Information about the start of registration for participation in the final stage will be published on the portal.

5.4 Analyses of the Olympiad problems will be published on the Olympiad portal no later than 3 working days after the final stage of the Olympiad.

6.1 As in the first round, each problem of the final stage has a score from 1 to 4, which is awarded to the participant if the answer is correct. Correct answers will be displayed immediately after the tasks have been completed.

6.2 The number of points will be calculated after the final competitive round, both for the second round itself and for the total number of points for the two rounds.  

6.3 The Participant has the right to appeal within 48 hours of the publication of his/her results on the Portal. The appeal must be submitted by the Participant online from his/her virtual office. The subject of the appeal is the answer submitted in an unspecified form. The contestant can check the correctness of the solution of the tasks after the publication of the results by downloading the archive with the correct solution on the Olympiad portal in the section "Archive of tasks". The representatives of the Olympiad have the right to contact the contestant who has submitted an appeal in order to establish or clarify the reasons for the appeal and its appropriateness. The appeal will be considered within a maximum of 5 (five) working days from the date of its submission. The competitor shall have the right to contact the Olympiad representatives to obtain a detailed explanation of the results of the appeal, if justified and properly formulated.

7.1 The winners and prize-winners of the Olympiad are the participants who have obtained the maximum number of points. The winners will receive the corresponding diplomas and confirmation of the university scholarship upon admission to the study programme. The amount of the scholarships and grants from certain universities depends on the level of the diplomas, 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

7.2 The results of the tasks carried out by the students will be evaluated automatically on the basis of the number of participants and the number of points obtained. The lists of winners and laureates of the Distance Olympiads are published on the website isolymp.org.

7.3 The winner's diploma will be sent by post to the participant's personal address.

7.4 All schools, students and teachers participating in the ISO Olympiads will receive an individual score.

7.5 At the end of the school year, diplomas and notebooks will be awarded to the ten educational institutions with the highest number of points.

7.6. The top scoring students will also receive diplomas of participants and valuable gifts - laptops, iPads, vouchers for international summer language camps with airfare. 

8.1 After checking the documents of the participants of the qualifying stages of the Olympiad, the total number of participants of the stage will be calculated separately for the face-to-face and distance forms of the Olympiad. The Methodical Commission, together with the Organising Committee, shall determine the criteria for determining the winners and laureates of these stages of the Olympiad.

8.2 After the examination of the documents of the participants of the final stage of the Olympiad, the total number of participants of the stage is calculated. The Methodical Commission together with the Organising Committee shall determine the criteria for determining the winners and laureates of this stage of the Olympiad. The number of winners may not exceed 8% of the total number of participants in the stage. The total number of winners and prize-winners of the stage shall not exceed 25% of the total number of participants of the stage. The winners and prizewinners of the Olympiad shall be determined on the basis of a single list (ranked by the number of points obtained) of all participants of the final stage.

8.3 After the results have been collated, the lists of winners and prize-winners of the 1st and 2nd Stages will be published on the Olympiad website.

The following nominations are foreseen for the winners and laureates of the Olympiad:

9.1 Scholarships from certain universities-partners of the Olympiad for admission to the profiles of the specialities of the Olympiad, including admission to preparatory courses;

9.2 Scholarships from various donor organisations, companies, individuals for admission to specific specialities;

9.3. One-off grants for admission to the Olympiad's partner universities. 9.3;

9.4. Paid 2-week vouchers for international summer language camps. 9.5;

9.5. Paid annual online language courses. 9.6;

9.6. Paid annual online courses in selected subjects (chosen by the student) to prepare for university entrance examinations;

9.7. Computers, tablets and other IT equipment;

9.8. 10-day sightseeing trips to various countries;
